African Rock is a documentary film examining the community of African and West Indian musicians who lived and worked in London during the sixties and seventies and their contributions to the burgeoning pop scene. Some of these artists reveal their successes and failures and share a range of hopes and fears.
The local London club scene during the swinging 60s formed the beginning of a social set from which the African and West Indian musician created their own unique perspective and influenced the entertainment iindustry.
Many British bands such as: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Free, Joe Cocker, Marc Boland, Jeff Beck, Elton John utilized West Indian and African musicians and their influence during critical points in their careers.
